We do everything that we can to take the hassle and stress out of applying for patient assistance programs. Simply start by filling in our enrollment application. What is Erivedge?
Erivedge contains the prescription medicine vismodegib. It is used for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer in adults. Erivedge is used when cancer spreads to other parts of the body, if it has come back after surgery or that you cannot be treated with surgery or radiation therapy.
Erivedge capsules should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. You should not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts than recommended. Erivedge is normally taken once per day, with or without food. The capsules should not be crushed, chewed, broken, or opened. Swallow the capsule whole. Store the capsules at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Erivedge active ingredients
Vismodegib blocks what is known as the Hedgehog pathway in the body. Overstimulation of this pathway can cause a variety of different human cancers in the body. Blocking the Hedgehog pathway helps to treat cancer in your body.
It is not known if Erivedge is safe and effective to use in children. Erivedge should not be used if you are pregnant, or if you are a man and your partner is pregnant. Women should use birth control to prevent pregnancy while taking Erivedge and for 24 months after taking their last dose. Men should use condoms or other forms of contraceptives during sex while taking Erivedge and for 3 months after taking their last dose. Call your doctor if a pregnancy occurs while either partner is taking vismodegib. You should not breastfeed while using Erivedge and for at least 7 months after your last dose.
