What is ExEm Foam?

ExEm Foam is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by ExEm Foam Inc. ExEm Foam (air polymer-type A) intrauterine foam, is a Trans vaginal ultrasound contrast agent for tubal patency testing indicated for sonohysterosalpingography (HSG) to assess fallopian tube patency in women with known or suspected infertility.

Studies show that hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) with ExEm Foam kits does not differ greatly from laparoscopy with dye and is able to achieve significantly higher accuracy than hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography with air/saline.

What doses of ExEm Foam are available?

ExEm Foam is an intrauterine foam single-dose kit containing one syringe with 5 mL clear Gel (polymer type A, glycerin, and purified water), one syringe with 5 mL sterile purified water, and one Combifix Adaptor (coupling device).

The recommended dose is 2 mL to 3 mL of ExEm Foam by intrauterine infusion using a 5-Fr or larger catheter. The dose may be repeated in 2 mL to 3 mL increments to achieve visualization of the fallopian tubes.

See the full prescribing information and always speak with a healthcare professional for medical advice about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.
