What is Kengreal?

Kengreal is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Chiesi USA, Inc. The safety of Kengreal was evaluated in the Champion Phoenix trial.

Kengreal is a P2Y12 platelet inhibitor used as an adjunct to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to prevent the formation of blood clots in the blood vessels of the heart (coronary arteries) and reduce the risk of periprocedural myocardial infarction, repeat coronary revascularization, and stent thrombosis in patients in who have not been using a P2Y12 platelet inhibitor and are not being given a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor.

PCI is a non-surgical procedure to treat narrowed arteries in coronary heart disease patients. The PCI procedure is used to reduce the risk of death or heart attack and to reduce the pain associated with angina in patients with stable angina.

What doses of Kengreal are available?

Kengreal is available as a lyophilized powder dosage form for reconstitution and dilution, in the following doses: 50 mg in a 10 mL vial.

Use 30 mcg/kg intravenous bolus before PCI followed by a 4 mcg/kg/min IV infusion for at least 2 hours or for the duration of the procedure. To maintain platelet inhibition after discontinuing Kengreal infusion, take an oral P2Y12 platelet inhibitor.

Please read the prescribing information and labeling provided and always speak with a healthcare professional about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.
