What is Locoid Lipocream?

Locoid lipocream is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Triax Pharmaceuticals, LLC.

Locoid Lipocream is a topical steroid (corticosteroid) indicated for skin conditions such as:

  • Relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses (allergic reactions or psoriasis) in adults
  • The treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in patients 3 months to 18 years

Topical corticosteroids share anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties.

What doses of Locoid Lipocream are available?

Locoid Lipocream is available in a cream formulation, in the following doses: 0.1%, 1mg in 1g in tubes of 45 g and 60 g.

Apply a thin layer to the affected area of skin two or three times daily for corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses in adults, and two times daily for atopic dermatitis in patients 3 months of age and older. Discontinue Locoid Lipocream when control is achieved

Reassess the diagnosis if no improvement is seen within 2 weeks. Before prescribing for more than 2 weeks, any additional benefits of extending treatment to 4 weeks should be weighed against the risk of HPA axis suppression and local adverse events.

The safety and efficacy of Locoid Lipocream have not been established beyond 4 weeks of use. Avoid use under occlusive dressings or in the diaper area. Locoid Lipocream is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.

Please read the labeling for this medicine and always speak with a healthcare professional for medical advice about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.
