What is Lupaneta Pack?

Lupaneta Pack is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured for AbbVie Inc. Lupaneta Pack contains leuprolide acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, and norethindrone acetate, a progestin. Norethindrone acetate causes changes in the secretion of estrogen from the endometrium. It is used for the:

  • Initial management of the painful symptoms of endometriosis
  • Management of the recurrence of symptoms

Lupaneta Pack has certain limitations of use. The initial treatment course is limited to 6 months and use is not recommended for longer than 12 months due to adverse impact on bone mineral density.

What doses of Lupaneta Pack are available?

Lupaneta Pack is available as leuprolide acetate for depot suspension 3.75 mg syringe, with norethindrone acetate tablets 5 mg.

The depot suspension will be given by a healthcare provider as a single intramuscular injection every month for up to six injections. Norethindrone acetate 5 mg tablets are taken orally once daily for up to 6 months. If symptoms of endometriosis recur after the initial course of treatment, consider retreatment for up to another six months.

Lupaneta Pack contraindications

You should not use Lupaneta Pack if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredients leuprolide acetate or norethindrone acetate
  • Have known hypersensitivity to GnRH, GnRH agonist, or to any of the other ingredients in Lupaneta Pack
  • Have undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Have a history of breast or other hormone-sensitive cancer
  • Have liver tumors or liver disease
  • Have problems with blood clots, a stroke, or a heart attack
  • Have high blood fat levels (high cholesterol or triglycerides)
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Are obese
  • Have diabetes
  • Have depression
  • Have kidney disease
  • Suffer from migraine headaches
  • Have asthma
  • Suffer from seizures
  • Have lupus
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant – Using this medicine while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. Use an effective form of birth control (contraception)
  • Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed

Talk to your doctor before using Lupaneta Pack if you:
