NiceRx verifies your eligibility for medication assistance and notifies you if you are pre-qualified. The pharmaceutical company provides your medication for free, and you only pay our service fee.
We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.
Once approved, the pharmaceutical company typically ships a 90-day supply of medication to your home or healthcare provider’s address. Final acceptance is determined by the pharmaceutical company.
Your monthly Miacalcin cost savings if eligible
If you are eligible to receive your Miacalcin prescription through the patient assistance program, your medication will be free. We charge a flat monthly service fee of $49 per medication to cover the cost of our services.

What is Miacalcin?
Miacalcin is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Novartis AG. Miacalcin nasal spray is used for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis (after menopause), Paget’s disease of bone, and high calcium levels (hypercalcemia).
Continued treatment with Miacalin should be evaluated on a regular basis due to the possibility of malignancy associated with calcitonin salmon use. Also, Miacalcin nasal spray has not been shown to increase bone mineral density in early postmenopausal women.
What doses of Miacalcin are available?
Miacalcin is available as a nasal spray, in the following doses: 2200 IU per mL. Each actuation delivers 200 International Units.
Use one spray per day, alternating nostrils daily. Allow the bottle to reach room temperature and prime the pump, before first use.

Miacalcin contains calcitonin-salmon as the active ingredient.
Miacalcin side effects
The most common side effects of Miacalcin in clinical trials include:
- Nasal irritation
- Runny nose
- Nose bleeds
- Back pain
In rare instances, Miacalcin can cause more serious adverse effects. These can include:
- Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylactic shock – consider skin testing before starting treatment
- Hypocalcemia – ensure adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D
- Nasal adverse reactions, including severe ulceration
- Increased risk of malignancy
- Development of circulating antibodies
- Nocturia, feverish sensation, pain in the eyes, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, pedal edema, and salty taste
Get medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, fast heartbeats, feeling faint, chest pain, trouble breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Miacalcin drug interactions
Miacalcin can interact with other medications. These include:
- Medications that cause bone loss or loss of bone density with long-term use, such as corticosteroids

You should not use Miacalcin if you:
- Are allergic to the active ingredient calcitonin-salmon
- Have had a serious allergic reaction to any of the other ingredients in Miacalcin
Talk to your doctor before using Miacalcin if you:
- Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Miacalcin
- Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed
Miacalcin is the trademark brand name for calcitonin-salmon manufactured by Novartis AG. A generic version of calcitonin-salmon is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find Miacalcin savings through NiceRx.
