What is Naftin?

Naftin is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals, LLC. It is an allylamine antifungal cream used to treat fungal skin infections interdigital tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch, ringworm of the groin), and tinea corporis caused by Trichophyton rubrum.

What doses of Naftin are available?

Naftin is available as a cream, in the following doses: 2%.

Apply a thin layer of the cream once daily to the affected areas with a half-inch margin of healthy skin surrounding the affected area for 2 weeks. Naftin cream is not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use.

Naftin active ingredients

The active ingredient of Naftin is naftifine hydrochloride (naftifine hcl), a topical antifungal.

Naftin side effects

The most common side effects of Naftin in clinical trials include:

  • Skin irritation

Naftin contraindications

You should not use Naftin if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient naftifine
  • Have had an allergic reaction to any of the other ingredients in Naftin
