What is Nyvepria?

Nyvepria is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Pfizer Inc. It is a leukocyte growth factor used to decrease the rate of infection, as manifested by febrile neutropenia (low levels of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell), in patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive anti-cancer drugs associated with a clinically significant incidence of febrile neutropenia. Nyvepria is not recommended for the mobilization of peripheral blood progenitor cells for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Nyvepria (pegfilgrastim-apgf) is biosimilar to Neulasta (pegfilgrastim), meaning that the biological product is approved based on data demonstrating that it is highly similar to an FDA-approved biological product, known as a reference product and that there are no clinically meaningful differences between the biosimilar product and the reference product.

What doses of Nyvepria are available?

Nyvepria is available in injection form, in the following doses: 6 mg/0.6 mL solution in a single-dose prefilled syringe for manual use only.

The most common side effects of Nyvepria in clinical trials include:

  • Bone pain
  • Pain in extremity

In rare instances, Nyvepria can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

  • Aortitis
  • Capillary leak syndrome fluid leaks from blood vessels into your body’s tissues
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
  • Fatal sickle cell crises
  • Splenic rupture
  • Serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Leukocytosis
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Tumor growth stimulatory effects on malignant cells
  • Myelodysplastic Syndrome
  • Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Nyvepria drug interactions

Nyvepria contraindications

You should not use Nyvepria if you:

  • Have a history of serious allergic reactions to human granulocyte colony-stimulating factors such as pegfilgrastim products or filgrastim products
  • Are allergic to any of the other ingredients in Nyvepria

Talk to your doctor before using Nyvepria if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Nyvepria
  • Have sickle cell disorder
  • Have kidney disease
  • Have chronic myeloid leukemia
  • Are having radiation treatment
  • Have myelodysplastic syndrome
  • Have a latex allergy
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

Nyvepria generic

Nyvepria is the trademark brand name for pegfilgrastim-apgf manufactured by Pfizer Inc. A generic version of pegfilgrastim-apgf is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find Nyvepria savings through NiceRx.
