Am I eligible for the Obizur patient assistance program?

You could receive your Obizur without paying the full retail price if you meet the eligibility criteria for assistance. The eligibility requirements are set by the pharmaceutical companies that are providing assistance programs. At NiceRx, we review each application individually, although the main factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for Obizur patient assistance?

We do everything that we can to take the hassle and stress out of applying for patient assistance programs. Simply start by filling in our enrollment application. We will ask for details about your healthcare provider, your insurance, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical companies you are applying to for assistance. We may also be able to help you access patient assistance for other medications that you have been prescribed, so be sure to tell us about any medications you are taking as well as Obizur.

NiceRx will review the information you have provided, and if we determine that you may be eligible for assistance, we will seek to enroll you in the Obizur patient assistance program. We will handle the enrollment process for you by working with your healthcare provider and preparing all the required paperwork for your doctor to sign. We will also request your Obizur medication refills on your behalf for up to 1 year once you are enrolled in the program.

Is NiceRx an Obizur coupon provider?

At NiceRx, we help eligible individuals access the Obizur patient assistance program. This means that we are not an Obizur coupon, an Obizur discount card, or an Obizur copay card provider. We do not offer any medication trial offers, or free Obizur samples.

Can NiceRx help me get Obizur cheaper if I have insurance?

We may be able to help you if you have insurance, including if your insurance company will not pay for your Obizur medication, or you have a high copay or coinsurance responsibility. We may even be able to assist if you do not have insurance. Please fill in our enrollment application to find out more.

What is Obizur?

Obizur is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved coagulation factor manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company. Obizur, Antihemophilic factor (Recombinant), porcine sequence, is indicated for the on-demand treatment of bleeding episodes in adults with acquired hemophilia A (AHA).

The safety and efficacy of Obizur has not been established in patients with a baseline anti-porcine factor VIII inhibitor titer of greater than 20 Bethesda Units. Obizur is not indicated for the treatment of congenital hemophilia A or von Willebrand disease.

What doses of Obizur are available?

Obizur is available as a lyophilized powder for solution in single-dose vials containing nominally 500 units per vial.

Obizur is for intravenous use after reconstitution only. The initial dose is 200 units per kg. Titrate the subsequent doses and frequency of administration based on factor VIII recovery levels and individual clinical response.

Always speak with a healthcare professional about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.

Obizur active ingredients

The active substance in Obizur, susoctocog alfa’s mechanism of action is the same as human factor VIII. As a result, it will not be as easily recognized by antibodies and it can replace the human factor VIII that has been inactivated, thereby helping the blood to clot and controlling the bleeding disorder.

Obizur side effects

The most common side effects of Obizur in clinical trials include:

  • Development of inhibitors to porcine FVIII

In rare instances, Obizur can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

  • Immune system disorders
  • Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis
  • Anamnestic reactions with rise in human factor VIII and/or recombinant factor VIII, porcine sequence inhibitors – consider evaluating for the presence of anti-recombinant porcine factor VIII antibodies prior to initiation of treatment. If expected plasma factor VIII activity levels are not attained, or if bleeding is not controlled with an appropriate dose, perform an assay that measures porcine factor VIII inhibitor concentration. Where positive anti-rpFVIII antibody results are detected after treatment is initiated, factor VIII levels may be used to decide whether treatment should be continued

Your doctor will assess the benefits of using Obizur against your risk of side effects. Patients are encouraged to report negative side effects or adverse reactions of Obizur to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
