What is Omnaris?

Omnaris (ciclesonide nasal spray) is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. Omnaris nasal spray is a corticosteroid used to treat nasal symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (seasonal allergies) in adults and children 6 years of age and older and perennial allergic rhinitis (year-round allergies) in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older.

What doses of Omnaris are available?

Omnaris is available as a nasal spray, in the following doses: 50 mcg of ciclesonide in each 70-microliter spray.

The recommended dose is 2 sprays per nostril once daily. Gently shake and prime the spray before using it for the first time or when it has not been used for four days. Avoid spraying directly onto the nasal septum, and avoid using in patients with nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma.

Omnaris active ingredients

The active ingredient of Omnaris is ciclesonide. It is classed as a steroid.

Omnaris side effects

The most common side effects of Omnaris in clinical trials include:

• Nosebleeds
• Stuffy nose
• Runny nose
• Sneezing
• Sore throat
• Ear pain

In rare instances, Omnaris can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

• Sores or white patches in or around your nostrils
• Impaired wound healing
• Glaucoma or cataracts
• Potential worsening of existing tuberculosis
• More serious or even fatal course of chickenpox or measles
• Hypercorticism and adrenal suppression
• Potential reduction in growth velocity in children
