What is Pylera?

Pylera is a prescription medicine used with omeprazole to treat Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with duodenal ulcers or a history of duodenal ulcer disease. Treating the Helicobacter pylori infection reduces the risk of duodenal ulcer recurring.

Pylera should be used to treat those infections only that are strongly suspected to be caused by the susceptible infection. This is to reduce drug-resistant bacteria developing and to ensure the effectiveness of Pylera.

Pylera active ingredients

Pylera contains a combination of bismuth subcitrate potassium, metronidazole, and tetracycline. Bismuth subcitrate potassium is a mineral. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that works well against anaerobic bacteria (bacteria not requiring oxygen to grow), and tetracycline, which is classed as a broad spectrum antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body by blocking the production of their protiens. The combined effect of the ingredients in Pylera together with omeprazole has been found to be more effective in the eradication of th H. pylori infection.
