How it works

  • Enroll online

Get started by filling out the online enrollment application to find out if you are eligible for assistance.

  • Pre-qualification

NiceRx verifies your eligibility for medication assistance and notifies you if you are pre-qualified. The pharmaceutical company provides your medication for free, and you only pay our service fee.

  • Submit documents

We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.

  • Receive medication

Once approved, the pharmaceutical company typically ships a 90-day supply of medication to your home or healthcare provider’s address. Final acceptance is determined by the pharmaceutical company.

Am I eligible for Sabril patient assistance?

We review each Sabril enrollment application individually to determine if you are eligible. Each assistance program has its own eligibility criteria and the factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Sabril patient assistance program?

Our process makes it as easy as possible to apply for the Sabril patient assistance program. Begin by completing the enrollment application form on our website. Tell us about any medications that you are taking, including Sabril. You must also provide details about your healthcare provider, your insurance plan, and your household income. This is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers who will supply the medication, so it is important to make sure this information is accurate and up to date.

We will review the information that you have provided to determine whether you are eligible for patient assistance. If we can pre-qualify you for assistance, NiceRx will handle the full enrollment process on your behalf. If you are approved by the pharmaceutical company, you will typically start receiving your medication in 6 – 8 weeks.

How much does Sabril cost without Insurance?

What is Sabril?

Sabril contains the prescription medicine vigabatrin, which is classed as an anticonvulsant. It works by reducing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. Sabril is used in combination with other medications to treat partial seizures in adults and children who are 10 years old and above. Sabril powder for oral solution is used to treat infantile spasms in babies and children between the ages of 1 month and 2 years.

This medicine should only be used by people if other medicines have been tried but were unable to control their seizures. Contact your doctor if your partial seizures do not improve after 3 months of treatment, or if your baby’s infantile spasms do not improve after 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. If your baby misses a dose, takes only part of a dose, or spits or vomits after taking this medicine, contact your doctor.

Sabril active ingredients

Exactly how vigabatrin works in the body is not fully understood. Studies do show however that vigabatrin does block the activity of a neurotransmitter called GABA, preventing it from breaking down in the brain. This action is thought to be important in calming the nerve activity in your brain, helping to prevent seizures.

You may take vigabatrin with or without food. Read and carefully follow any instructions provided with your medicine. Do not stop Sabril suddenly, as this may cause increased seizures. Follow your doctor’s instructions about reducing your dose. You are advised to wear or carry medical identification to let others know you are using Sabril.

This medicine can cause vision problems. An eye examination before starting treatment is needed, and then every 3 months during treatment, even if your vision seems normal. You must stay alert to changes in your eyesight when taking this medicine. If you stop taking vigabatrin, you should have another eye exam about 3 to 6 months after your last dose.

Sabril side effects

The most common side effects caused by Sabril include:

  • Drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness
  • Problems with balance or coordination
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Shaking

In rare instances, Sabril can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

  • Confusion, feeling tired
  • Severe weakness, muscle pain
  • Increased seizures
  • Any changes in vision

Your doctor will assess the benefits of using Sabril against your risk of side effects.
