What is Timoptic Ocudose?

Timoptic Ocudose (timolol maleate ophthalmic solution) is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Bausch & Lomb. Timolol eye drops may be used in combination with other drugs or on its own to treat increased pressure in the eye caused by open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high eye pressure).

What doses of Timoptic Ocudose are available?

Preservative-free Timoptic Ocudose is available as a sterile solution, in the following doses: 0.25 and 0.5 percent.

The recommended dose of Timoptic Ocudose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once or twice a day, as directed by your doctor. Make sure you wash your hands before using the eye drops and do not allow the tip of the dropper to touch your eye or any other surface. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and wait 15 minutes before putting your contact lenses back in.

Timoptic Ocudose does not contain a preservative. Do not open the single-use container until you are ready to use it. Throw away any remaining contents of the container. Store at room temperature, at 15-30°C (59-86°F). Do not refrigerate and protect from sunlight.

Timoptic Ocudose contains timolol maleate, a beta blocker, as the active ingredient.

  • Oral beta-blockers – propranolol
  • Clonidine
  • Antidepressants such as fluoxetine
  • Digoxin
  • Epinephrine
  • Fingolimod
  • Methyldopa
  • Quinidine

Timoptic Ocudose contraindications

You should not use Timoptic Ocudose if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient timolol maleate
  • Have had an allergic reaction to any of the other ingredients in Timoptic Ocudose
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant

Talk to your doctor before using Timoptic Ocudose if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Timoptic Ocudose
  • Have lung disease, asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Have heart failure
  • Have bradycardia
