What is Ukoniq?

Ukoniq is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication distributed by TG Therapeutics, Inc. FDA approval was based on the outcome of an open-label, multi-center, multi-cohort, phase two clinical trial, Unity-NHL.

Ukoniq is a kinase inhibitor for the treatment of adult patients with:

  • Relapsed or refractory marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) who have received at least one prior anti-CD20-based regimen
  • Relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) who have received at least three prior lines of systemic therapy

These indications are approved under accelerated approval based on the overall response rate. Continued approval for these indications may depend upon verification and description of clinical benefit in a confirmatory trial.

What doses of Ukoniq are available?

Ukoniq is available in tablet form, in the following doses: 200 mg.

Patients are administered 800mg orally once daily until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Please see the full prescribing information and Medication Guide.

Ukoniq active ingredients

The active ingredient in Ukoniq is umbralisib.

Ukoniq side effects

The most common side effects of Ukoniq in clinical trials include:

  • Laboratory abnormalities – increased creatinine, transaminase elevation
  • Tiredness, nausea
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Decreased appetite
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • Low platelet count

In rare instances, Ukoniq can cause more serious adverse reactions. These can include:

  • Neutropenia
  • Diarrhea or Non-infectious colitis
  • Hepatotoxicity
  • Severe cutaneous reactions
  • Allergic reactions
  • Embryo-fetal toxicity

Ukoniq drug interactions

There is currently no data for Ukoniq interactions with other medications. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Ukoniq contraindications

You should not use Ukoniq if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient umbralisib
  • Are allergic to any of the other ingredients in Ukoniq
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant – if you are able to become pregnant, your healthcare provider will do a pregnancy test before starting treatment. Use effective birth control (contraception) during treatment and for 1 month after the last dose
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

Talk to your doctor before using Ukoniq if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Ukoniq

Ukoniq generic

Ukoniq is the trademark brand name for umbralisib distributed by TG Therapeutics, Inc. A generic version of umbralisib is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find Ukoniq savings through NiceRx.
