What is Vaniqa?

Vaniqa is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by GilletteBristol. Vaniqa cream reduces unwanted facial hair in women. It blocks the action of an enzyme called ornithine decarboxylase, found within hair follicles, resulting in slower hair growth.

Vaniqa is not a hair removal (depilatory) product. You should continue to use hair removal techniques while using this treatment. If you stop using this cream, hair growth will return.

What doses of Vaniqa are available?

Vaniqa is available as a cream, in the following doses: 139 mg eflornithine in 1 gram.

Apply a thin layer of Vaniqa to the affected areas of the face and chin twice daily, 8 hours apart, or as directed by your doctor. Do not apply for at least 5 minutes after hair removal (such as plucking, or shaving), and do not wash the treated area for at least 4 hours

Allow the medication to dry completely before applying cosmetics, moisturizers, or sunscreens. Store Vaniqa at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Please read the prescribing information and patient information leaflet, and always speak with a healthcare professional for medical advice about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.
