What is Vivonex RTF?

Vivonex RTF is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Nestle. It is an unflavored ready-to-feed elemental diet and a 100% free amino acid formula for patients with severely compromised GI function. There are only 10% calories from fat to support tolerance and reduce pancreatic stimulation, and it is useful in stressed, catabolic patients.

Vivonex RTF requires minimal digestive functionality for assimilation while providing benefits associated with continued use of the GI tract. It can be used as a tube feeding formula or oral supplementation.

Vivonex RTF is a lactose-free, gluten-free, low-residue, kosher nutritional support for patients with:

  • Severe protein, fat malabsorption
  • Transitional feeding
  • Extensive bowel resection
  • Malabsorption syndrome
  • Select trauma/surgery
  • Early postoperative feeding
  • Intestinal failure

What doses of Vivonex RTF are available?

Vivonex RTF is available in an unflavored liquid form, in the following doses: 1.0 kcal/mL contains protein 20%, carbohydrate 70%, and fat 10%.
