What is Vyvgart?

Vyvgart is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Argenx US, Inc. FDA approval of Vyvgart was based on results from the global Phase 3 ADAPT trial.

Vyvgart is the first treatment that uses a fragment of an IgG antibody Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody. It is a neonatal Fc receptor blocker (FcRn) used for the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) in adult patients who are anti-acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibody positive.

Generalized MG is a rare autoimmune disease, symptoms include muscle weakness that affects the muscles of the eyes, limbs, throat, face, and jaw. Vyvgart has been awarded orphan drug status in both the U.S. and Europe as it is a treatment for rare diseases. Patients who continue long-term treatment show consistent improvement on both the myasthenia gravis activities of daily living (MG-ADL) and quantitative myasthenia gravis (QMG) scales.

What doses of Vyvgart are available?

Vyvgart is available in injection form, in the following doses: 400 mg in 20 mL (20 mg/mL) single-dose vial.

Consider the need to give age-appropriate vaccines according to immunization guidelines before initiation of a new treatment cycle with Vyvgart. The recommended dosage is 10 mg/kg as an intravenous infusion over one hour once weekly for 4 weeks. In patients weighing 120 kg or more, the recommended dose is 1200 mg per infusion. Further treatment cycles are based on clinical evaluation.
