What is WinRho SDF?

WinRho SDF is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Saol Therapeutics. WinRho SDF is a human blood product, Rho(D) Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) made from human plasma. WinRho SDF is used to prevent an immune response to Rh-positive blood in people with an Rh-negative blood type.

It is indicated for the treatment of Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP)) and is used to raise platelet counts in Rho(D) positive, non-splenectomized:

  • Children with chronic or acute ITP
  • Adults with chronic ITP
  • Children and adults with ITP secondary to HIV infection suppression of Rhesus (Rh) Isoimmunization
  • Pregnancy and other obstetric conditions in non-sensitized, Rho(D)-negative women with an Rh-positive baby including – routine antepartum and postpartum Rh prophylaxis, Rh prophylaxis in obstetric complications or invasive procedures, and incompatible transfusions in Rho(D)-negative individuals transfused with blood components containing Rho(D)-positive red blood cells (RBCs)

What doses of WinRho SDF are available?

WinRho SDF is available in injection form, in ready to use solution in single dose vials of 600 IU (120 mcg), 1,500 IU (300 mcg), 2,500 IU (500 mcg), 5,000 IU (1,000 mcg) and 15,000 IU (3,000 mcg).

WinRho SDF contains Rho (D) immune globulin as the active ingredient.

WinRho SDF side effects

The most common side effects of WinRho SDF in clinical trials include:

  • Headache, chills, fever, asthenia, pallor
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
  • Arthralgia, muscle pain, abdominal or back pain
  • Dizziness, malaise
  • Hyperkinesia
  • Hypotension, hypertension
  • Increased LDH
  • Somnolence
  • Pruritus, rash, and sweating

In rare instances, WinRho SDF can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

  • Hypersensitivity including anaphylaxis
  • Intravascular hemolysis (IVH) – hemolysis, hemolytic anemia, and multi-system organ failure including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Serious complications include severe anemia, acute renal insufficiency, renal failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)
  • Infection with transmissible infectious agents such as viruses and, theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD)
  • Thrombotic events
  • Passive transfer of antibodies
  • Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI)
  • Blood glucose test monitoring interference

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction. Rash or hives, feeling faint, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

WinRho SDF drug interactions

WinRho SDF can interact with other medications. These include:

  • Live virus vaccines, such as measles, mumps, and rubella

WinRho SDF contraindications

You should not use WinRho SDF if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient RHo (D) immune globulin
  • Have had an allergic reaction to any of the other ingredients in WinRho SDF
  • Are IgA-deficient with antibodies to IgA
  • Have a history of autoimmune hemolytic anemia, with pre-existing hemolysis
  • Are at high risk for hemolysis

Talk to your doctor before using WinRho SDF if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with WinRho SDF
  • Have a history of anemia
  • Have heart disease or a history of coronary artery disease
  • Have a bleeding disorder
  • Have high triglycerides
  • Have kidney disease
  • Have diabetes
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

WinRho SDF generic

WinRho SDF is the trademark brand name for RHo (D) immune globulin manufactured by Saol Therapeutics. A generic version of Rho (D) immune globulin is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find WinRho SDF savings through NiceRx.
