Am I eligible for the Zetia patient assistance program?

If you meet the eligibility criteria of the Zetia patient assistance program, you could receive your Zetia without paying the full retail price. We review each assistance program application individually, although the main factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Zetia patient assistance program?

NiceRx makes it easy and straightforward to apply for patient assistance programs. All you need to do is fill in our enrollment application. Let us know about any medications you’re taking, including Zetia, and we’ll also ask for details about your healthcare provider, insurance, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers that ship your medication.

If we determine that you may be eligible for Zetia assistance, we’ll handle the application process and help to enroll you in the patient assistance program. Once enrolled, we’ll also request your Zetia medication refills on your behalf for up to a full year.

Is NiceRx a Zetia coupon provider?

NiceRx is a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Zetia patient assistance program. We are not a Zetia coupon, a Zetia discount card, or a Zetia copay card. We don’t offer printable Zetia manufacturer coupons, Zetia discounts, rebates, Zetia savings cards, trial offers, or free Zetia samples.

If you’re looking for coupons for Zetia or cheap Zetia, you will likely save more through the patient assistance program. When obtaining your Zetia medication through NiceRx, your total cost for the medication will always be $49 per month.

What is Zetia?

Zetia is a medicine used to lower high cholesterol levels. It can be used alone, or alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet and exercise. The medication can also be taken by people with heart disease in combination with medicines called statins. Used in this way, Zetia can lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Zetia works by lowering levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood. LDL cholesterol, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol, is a fatty substance found in food. It can build up on the walls of your arteries and combine with other substances to form something called plaque. Plaque narrows and blocks your arteries, impeding the flow of blood around your body and to vital organs. This can raise blood pressure and lead to conditions like heart disease and strokes.

In addition to lowering your LDL cholesterol, Zetia can also raise your levels of HDL cholesterol. Also called “good” cholesterol, HDL stops the “bad” cholesterol building up in your arteries and forming plaque.

Zetia active ingredients

The active ingredient in Zetia is called ezetimibe. Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol you absorb from the food you’ve eaten and by causing your liver to absorb more cholesterol from your blood. This lowers the levels of “bad” cholesterol and other harmful fatty substances in your blood and can increase levels of “good” cholesterol.

Zetia side effects & Zetia drug interactions

As with all medications, Zetia can cause side effects, although not everyone will get them or get the same ones. The most common side effects of Zetia, when used alone, include abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, and fatigue. When used in combination with statins, additional common side effects include headaches, muscle weakness, muscle pain, and tenderness.

In rare cases Zetia can cause more serious side effects, like liver and kidney problems, muscle breakdown, inflammation of the pancreas causing severe abdominal pain, and depression.

This isn’t a full list of all the side effects that Zetia can cause. For more details see the patient leaflet that comes with your medication. Talk to your physician or a pharmacist if you have any concerns about Zetia’s side effects.

Zetia and other medications can interact. This can change how Zetia and the other medications work and can make side effects more likely. Tell your prescribing physician about all drugs you’re taking, including vitamins and dietary supplements. In particular, tell them if you’re taking other cholesterol-lowering medications like fibrates, or the immunosuppressant Cyclosporine.
