Am I eligible for the Zinecard patient assistance program?

To find out if you are eligible for Zinecard assistance you can apply online using our enrollment application. Each pharmaceutical company sets its eligibility criteria, and we will review your application individually to determine if you may be eligible. The three main factors to consider are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Zinecard patient assistance program?

Our application process aims to make it as easy as possible to apply for the Zinecard patient assistance program. The first step is to complete our online enrollment application. We will ask you for details about your healthcare provider, your insurance plan, and your household income as this information is required by the pharmaceutical companies. We may be able to help you apply for other patient assistance programs too, so be sure to tell us about any medications you are taking as well as Zinecard.

NiceRx will review your application and determine whether you may be eligible for Zinecard assistance. If so, we will handle the full enrollment process for you and prepare all required documents for your healthcare provider to sign. Once you are successfully enrolled in the Zinecard patient assistance program, we will help you manage your prescription refills by requesting refills on your behalf throughout your enrollment period. At the end of your enrollment period, we will contact you for updated information and seek to re-enroll you so you can continue to access affordable Zinecard.

Is NiceRx a Zinecard coupons provider?

NiceRx is a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Zinecard patient assistance program. We do not offer trial offers or free Zinecard samples. When obtaining your medication through NiceRx, you will only pay $49 a month per medication. This will likely save you more money than if you were to use Zinecard coupons, discount cards, or Zinecard copay cards.

Can NiceRx help me get Zinecard if I have insurance?

What is Zinecard?

Zinecard is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication distributed by Pharmacia & Upjohn Co., Division of Pfizer Inc.

Zinecard is a cardioprotective agent indicated for reducing the incidence and severity of cardiomyopathy associated with doxorubicin administration in women with metastatic breast cancer, who have received a cumulative dose of doxorubicin 300 mg/m2 and who will continue to receive doxorubicin therapy to maintain tumor control. The safety and effectiveness of dexrazoxane in pediatric patients have not been established.

What doses of Zinecard are available?

Zinecard is available as 250 mg or 500 mg single-dose vials as sterile, pyrogen-free lyophilizates.

Reconstitute the vial contents and dilute them before use. Give Zinecard by intravenous infusion over 15 minutes. The recommended dosage ratio of Zinecard to doxorubicin is 10:1. Do not administer doxorubicin before Zinecard.

Obtain a complete blood count before and during each course of therapy, as Zinecard may add to the myelosuppression caused by chemotherapeutic agents.

Always speak with a healthcare professional for medical advice or about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.

Zinecard active ingredients

Dexrazoxane is a cyclic derivative of EDTA that penetrates cell membranes. Results of studies show that dexrazoxane is converted inside cells to a ring-opened chelating agent that interferes with iron-mediated free radical generation thought to be responsible, in part, for anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy.

The most common side effects of Zinecard in clinical trials include:

  • Swelling in your hands or feet
  • Cough, sore throat, trouble breathing, other signs of infection
