What is Amvuttra?

Amvuttra is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Amvuttra is a transthyretin-directed small interfering RNA for the treatment of the polyneuropathy of hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis (hATTR amyloidosis) in adults. Hereditary ATTR amyloidosis is an aggressive, debilitating, and often fatal disease.

Extensive data supporting treatment with Amvuttra in patients with hATTR polyneuropathy shows the drug’s ability to improve neuropathy impairment and create significant improvements in the quality of life, functional status, and performance in patients. This builds on the effectiveness of patisiran, which was the first siRNA therapy approved for any disease.

FDA approval for Amvuttra is based on results from the HELIOS-A Phase III study in which patients on the RNAi therapeutic met all secondary endpoints at 18 months. The ongoing HELIOS-B study is investigating vutrisiran for ATTR patients with cardiomyopathy.

What doses of Amvuttra are available?

Amvuttra is available as an injection, in the following doses: 25 mg/0.5 mL in a single-dose prefilled syringe.

Amvuttra active ingredients
