How it works

  • Enroll online

Get started by filling out the online enrollment application to find out if you are eligible for assistance.

  • Pre-qualification

NiceRx verifies your eligibility for medication assistance and notifies you if you are pre-qualified. The pharmaceutical company provides your medication for free, and you only pay our service fee.

  • Submit documents

We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.

  • Receive medication

Once approved, the pharmaceutical company typically ships a 90-day supply of medication to your home or healthcare provider’s address. Final acceptance is determined by the pharmaceutical company.

Am I eligible for the Enbrel patient assistance program?

At NiceRx we review each Enbrel assistance program application individually. In most instances most programs will consider the following main factors:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Enbrel patient assistance program?

We make it as easy as possible to apply for the Enbrel patient assistance program. Every application must begin with our enrollment application. At the start of your application you will need to tell us about any medications you’re taking, including Enbrel. We’ll also need full details of your healthcare provider, insurance, and your household income. This important information is a fundamental part of the application process and is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers that ship your medication.

If we determine that you’ll be eligible for Enbrel assistance, we’ll handle the application process for you. We will help to enroll you in the Enbrel patient assistance program on your behalf. Our service also extends to requesting your Enbrel medication refills for up to 1 year, once you’re enrolled in the program.

What is Enbrel?

Enbrel is a medication prescribed to treat the following autoimmune diseases:

  • Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis
  • Moderate to severe polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (joint pain and inflammation in children and adolescents with more than 4 joints affected)
  • Ankylosing spondylitis (inflammation of joints in the spine).
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis (long term patches of skin plaques)

Your immune system kills and removes harmful pathogens that can make you ill and helps you recover from injuries. However, sometimes your immune system can mistakenly attack healthy parts of your body, causing an autoimmune disease. Many of these autoimmune diseases cause inflammation.

Inflammation is a vital part of your immune system’s response to infection. It signals to your body to defend itself and that repair is needed. However, inflammation in healthy tissue, especially if it persists, can cause damage. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by chronic inflammation in your joints, while ankylosing spondylitis is caused by chronic inflammation in your spine.

Enbrel helps treat autoimmune conditions by reducing inflammation. This helps to ease the symptoms of these diseases and limits the damage they can cause. Enbrel is injected under the skin using a pre-filled MYCLIC injection pen.

Enbrel active ingredients

The active ingredient in Enbrel is called etanercept. It helps to treat certain autoimmune diseases by reducing the inflammation they cause. Your immune system triggers inflammation by releasing a signaling molecule called TNF-alpha. This molecule attaches itself to areas inside your cells, beginning the process that causes inflammation. The active ingredient etanercept stops this from happening. It attaches itself to TNF-alpha molecules, stopping them from working. This halts the inflammation process before it’s even started.

Enbrel side effects & Enbrel drug interactions

Those that take Enbrel can experience side effects. Around 1 in 10 people who take it may experience the most common Enbrel side effects. They include an increased rate of infections like colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and skin infections; and reactions at the site of injection, including bleeding, bruising, redness, itching, pain, and swelling.

In rarer cases, Enbrel can cause more serious side effects. These can include serious infections, blood and nerve disorders, heart failure, inflammation of the blood vessels, and autoimmune reactions.

If you’re taking a range of medications, interactions may occur. If this happens it can alter how the medication works and make certain side effects more likely. Medicines that may interact with Enbrel include those containing the active ingredients:

  • Anakinra, like Kineret
  • Abatacept, like Orencia
  • Sulfasalazine, like Azulfidine, Salazopyrin, and Sulazine
