Am I eligible for the Esbriet patient assistance program?

You could receive your Esbriet without paying the full retail price if you meet the eligibility criteria for assistance. This criteria is set by the pharmaceutical companies who are providing assistance programs. At NiceRx we review each application individually, although the main factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for Esbriet patient assistance?

We do everything that we can to take the hassle and stress out of applying for patient assistance programs. Simply start by filling in our enrollment application. We will ask for details about your healthcare provider, your insurance, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical companies you are applying to for assistance. We may also be able to help you access patient assistance for other medications that you have been prescribed, so be sure to tell us about any medications you are taking as well as Esbriet.

NiceRx will review the information you have provided, and if we determine that you may be eligible for assistance, we will seek to enroll you in the Esbriet patient assistance program. We will handle the enrollment process for you by working with your healthcare provider and preparing all the required paperwork for your doctor to sign. We will also request your Esbriet medication refills on your behalf for up to 1 year once you are enrolled in the program.

Is NiceRx an Esbriet coupons provider?

At NiceRx, we help eligible individuals access the Esbriet patient assistance program. This means that we are not an Esbriet coupon, an Esbriet discount card, or an Esbriet copay card provider. We do not offer any medication trial offers, or free Esbriet samples.

What is Esbriet?

Esbriet contains the prescription medicine pirfenidone, used for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a lung disease. IPF is a condition where scar tissue is formed deep within the lungs. This scar tissue over time becomes thicker and more rigid making it more difficult for the lungs to work properly and harder for you to breathe. The lack of oxygen caused by this affects how other organs function in your body causing other medical complications. Exactly what causes IPF is not known, but the disease is progressive and can be life-threatening.

Esbriet will slow the progression of the disease but will not cure IPF.

Esbriet active ingredients

Pirfenidone is in a class of medications called pyridones. Pirfenidone’s mechanism of action is thought to be through reducing lung scarring, by reducing the production of growth factors and procollagens I and II. (Procollagens are used to produce collagen, a protein that normally adds strength and support to many body tissues). However, the exact mechanism for the action of pirfenidone in the treatment of IPF is not fully understood.

Esbriet is started on a dose of one capsule or tablet a day on the first week of treatment. It is gradually increased weekly by one tablet or capsule a week until you are taking one capsule or tablet three times a day. Esbriet is taken with food.
