Am I eligible for the Mepron patient assistance program?

Each patient assistance program will consider a range of factors to determine eligibility, although most will evaluate those mentioned in the table below. We review each Mepron assistance program application individually.

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Mepron patient assistance program?

We do everything we can to make it as easy as possible to apply for the Mepron patient assistance program. Begin the process by completing our online enrollment form. At this early stage it’s important to tell us about all medications you’re taking, including Mepron. To complete the enrollment application, you will also need to provide full details of your healthcare providers, insurance, and your household income. We ask for this information as it is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers who ship your medication.

Having reviewed the details provided, we will determine your potential eligibility for the program. If we determine you may be eligible for Mepron assistance, we’ll handle the application process and help to enroll you in the Mepron patient assistance program. Once enrolled in the program, NiceRx will also request your Mepron medication refills on your behalf for up to a full year.

Is NiceRx a Mepron coupons provider?

NiceRx is a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Mepron patient assistance program. This means that we are not a Mepron coupons provider and we don’t offer Mepron discounts, Mepron savings cards, free Mepron samples, or printable Mepron manufacturer coupons. If you think you can find cheaper alternatives for your medication, consider that when accessing your medication with the help of NiceRx, your total cost for the medication will always be $49 per month.

Can NiceRx help me get Mepron if I have insurance?

You may still be able to be enrolled in the Mepron patient assistance program if you don’t have insurance, if your insurer won’t cover the cost of your prescription, or if you have a high copay or coinsurance responsibility.

How much is Mepron with insurance?

The terms of your healthcare plan will impact the cost of Mepron. To find out exactly what you’ll have to pay, your healthcare provider or pharmacist will be able to calculate your copay with your current insurance. With NiceRx you’ll always pay a flat monthly fee of $49.

How much does Mepron cost without insurance?

Mepron prices without insurance will vary depending on the retailer. As a guide, you can expect to pay around $1,650 for 210 ml of 750 mg/5 ml Mepron oral suspension.

What is Mepron?

Mepron is a medication prescribed to prevent and treat a type of pneumonia caused by a fungal infection called Pneumocystis pneumonia. It’s given to adults and children over the age of 13 who can’t be given a medicine called co-trimoxazole.

Pneumonia is a disease that causes the small air sacs in your lungs to become inflamed. This can give you a dry cough, chest pain, fever, and can make it hard to breathe. Pneumonia is usually caused by an infection, and Pneumocystis pneumonia is caused by an infection of a fungus called Pneumocystis jirovecii. The fungus (a small, single-celled organism) infects your lungs, then reproduces and spreads, causing the inflammation and other symptoms of pneumonia.

Pneumocystis pneumonia develops most often in people who have a weakened immune system. This may happen in the case of AIDS/HIV, when undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, or when taking an immunosuppressant for another condition.

A medication called co-trimoxazole can be taken to treat Pneumocystis pneumonia. Co-trimoxazole isn’t suitable for everyone though. For example, if you’re allergic to it. In this case, Mepron can be taken instead. Mepron is an antiparasitic medication. It helps prevent and treat Pneumocystis pneumonia by killing the Pneumocystis jirovecii fungus that causes it. It’s usually sold in the form of a liquid oral suspension that’s taken alongside food.

Mepron active ingredients

The active ingredient in Mepron is called atovaquone. Atovaquone kills the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii that causes Pneumocystis pneumonia. It does so by disrupting processes inside fungal cells, particularly by stopping them from producing energy and absorbing metals from their surrounding environment. This stops the fungi from growing and reproducing, helping your body to clear the infection.
