What is Qbrelis?

Qbrelis is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Silvergate Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Qbrelis is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE inhibitor) indicated for:

  • Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults and pediatric patients, 6 years of age and older
  • Adjunct therapy for heart failure
  • Treatment of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack)

Warning: Fetal toxicity may occur. See the full prescribing information for the complete boxed warning. Discontinue Qbrelis as soon as possible when pregnancy is identified. Drugs that act directly on the rennin-angiotensin system can cause injury and death to the developing fetus.

What doses of Qbrelis are available?

Qbrelis is available as an oral solution, in the following doses: 1 mg/mL.

Qbrelis active ingredients

Qbrelis contains lisinopril as the active ingredient.

Qbrelis side effects

The most common side effects of Qbrelis in clinical trials include:

  • Hypertension – headache, dizziness, and cough
  • Heart Failure – hypotension and chest pain
  • Acute MI – hypotension,renal dysfunction

In rare instances, Qbrelis can cause more serious adverse reactions. These can include:

  • Angioedema
  • Renal impairment – monitor renal function
  • Hypotension – patients with other heart or renal diseases have an increased risk
  • Hyperkalemia – monitor serum potassium. Risk factors include renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, and the concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, and/or potassium-containing salt substitutes
  • Cholestatic jaundice and hepatic failure
  • Anaphylactoid reactions have occurred in some patients dialyzed with high-flux membranes treated concomitantly with an ACE inhibitor. Dialysis must be stopped immediately

Qbrelis drug interactions

Qbrelis can interact with other medications. These include:

  • Diuretics
  • NSAIDs – increased risk of renal impairment and loss of antihypertensive efficacy – ibuprofen, naproxen. Dual inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system
  • Lithium – symptoms of lithium toxicity
  • Gold – nitritoid reactions have been reported
  • Aliskiren

This list is not exhaustive and other prescription drugs may interact with Qbrelis.

Qbrelis contraindications

You should not use Qbrelis if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient lisinopril
  • Are allergic to any of the other ingredients in Qbrelis
  • Have a history of hereditary or idiopathic angioedema
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

Talk to your doctor before using Qbrelis if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Qbrelis

Qbrelis is the trademark brand name for lisinopril manufactured by Silvergate Pharmaceuticals, Inc. A generic version of lisinopril is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find Qbrelis savings through NiceRx.
