How it works
Get started by filling out the online enrollment application to find out if you are eligible for assistance.
NiceRx verifies your eligibility for medication assistance and notifies you if you are qualified. The pharmaceutical company provides your medication for free and you only pay our service fee.
We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.
Once approved, the pharmaceutical company typically ships a 90-day supply of medication to your home or healthcare provider’s address.
The Samsca patient assistance program is available to eligible individuals who are unable to afford their Samsca medication. At NiceRx, we can help you to enroll in the program for $49 per month.* We work directly with your healthcare provider to submit your enrollment application on your behalf. By handling the full enrollment process for you, we can help you get easy and affordable access to the medications you need. If you are successfully enrolled in the program, we will also request prescription refills on your behalf for up to 1 year.

What is Samsca?
Samsca contains the prescription medicine tolvaptan, which increases low sodium levels in the blood (hyponatremia) in adults with heart failure and specific hormone imbalances. Samsca does this by helping to remove water from your body as urine. This causes your body’s salt concentration to increase.
Samsca should not be used if you are dehydrated, if you can not tell you are thirsty, or if you are unable to urinate. Samsca can be dangerous if your low sodium levels are reversed too quickly. You must inform your doctor immediately if you have difficulty with your speech, swallowing, moving your arms or legs, any confusion, or seizures. You will need regular checks while you are taking this medicine.
Samsca active ingredients
Tolvaptan blocks certain receptors in your body known as vasopressin V2-receptors. When taken tolvaptan blocks the effects of vasopressin in the body. This causes you to get rid of more water in your urine and has the effect of raising your serum sodium concentrations. Tolvaptan does not increase the amount of sodium lost in your urine.
You should take Samsca with plenty of water once per day. When you start or if you restart this medicine, you will need to be observed in a hospital just in case you have any serious side effects. Samsca should only be used for up to 30 days as long-term use can cause liver damage.
Samsca side effects
The most common side effects caused by Samsca include:
- Dry mouth
- Increased thirst or urination
- Feeling tired or weak
In rare instances, Samsca can cause more serious side effects. These can include:
- Weakness, confusion, light-headed

- Upper right side stomach pain, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, itching, yellow color to your skin or eyes
- Problems with speech or muscle control, difficulty moving your arms and legs

Your doctor will assess the benefits of using Samsca against your risk of side effects.
