What is Viagra?

Viagra is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. It is usually taken orally as a pill before you plan to have sex.

ED, also called erectile dysfunction and impotence, is when a man can’t get or keep an erection that’s hard enough for sex. It’s a widespread issue, affecting many men. In fact, ED is the most common sexual problem reported by men. While it used to be thought of as something that only affected older men, more recent research has shown plenty of young men experience ED too.

The condition has several possible causes. Medical conditions that limit the flow of blood to the penis, like diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, are common causes.
