How much does compounded semaglutide cost?

The package includes 1 semaglutide vial of the appropriate strength (up to 1.75mg per week) as prescribed by the doctor, sufficient syringes and alcohol swabs, and antiemetic medication (eg. generic Zofran) if needed.

How long does it take for the medication to arrive?

The current delivery time is approximately 5 days from the time the prescription is approved by a doctor following the online visit. To minimize delays, be sure to schedule your online doctor’s visit as soon as possible.

What if my insurance won’t cover the cost of the drug?

There is no insurance required. You can pay for the medication with a credit card. If you are unable to receive insurance coverage for this medication, you can likely save money with the NiceRx Weight Loss Program.

Is compounded semaglutide the same as Ozempic and Wegovy?

The compounded version of semaglutide works the same as Ozempic and Wegovy as it has the same active ingredient (semaglutide) but is significantly less expensive.  The main difference is that the brand-name drug is available as a pen and the compounded version is available in a vial which is injected using a syringe.

What is compounded semaglutide?

Compounded semaglutide is an injectable medication that contains a unique composition of the popular weight loss medication, semaglutide (also known as Ozempic and Wegovy). This medication helps with weight loss by signaling a feeling of fullness in your brain, and also by lowering blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It should be used in conjunction with diet and exercise.

Due to medication shortages for the brand name drug, a compound pharmacy can supply compounded semaglutide. NiceRx works with a licensed semaglutide compound pharmacy in the United States to help you access this medication, if you are approved for a prescription by the licensed medical provider.

How do I get compounded semaglutide?

You can buy compounded semaglutide for weight loss by clicking the Get Started button and filling out a short weight loss quiz to determine your eligibility for treatment, which is subject to the discretion of a licensed medical provider.

How is NiceRx responding to drug shortages?

Due to high demand, Novo Nordisk, the company behind Wegovy and Ozempic, foresees shortages in the availability of their brand-name medications. They expect the demand for Wegovy to surpass the available supply. Patients might encounter challenges obtaining Wegovy prescriptions at the doses of 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg, as well as Saxenda prescriptions, throughout 2023 and potentially beyond. It has been observed that nearly half of the patients still face difficulties accessing Wegovy doses even after waiting for a month.

NiceRx and its affiliated healthcare providers are taking additional measures to assist patients in their weight loss journey while addressing the drug shortages. We are helping patients access compounded Semaglutide and Compounded Tirzepatide injections that are readily available while the brand-name drugs are in shortage.  Providers may adjust the treatment plan for patients if deemed clinically appropriate. These adjustments could involve prescribing alternative GLP-1 medications, working collaboratively on a personalized treatment plan, or suggesting modifications to diet, lifestyle, and fitness activities.

For patients starting the NiceRx Weight Loss Program, the initial steps remain unaffected by the supply issues. If a provider decides that a GLP-1 medication is suitable, the sooner a patient joins the program, the quicker our team can work towards assisting you with your weight loss journey.

Do you accept insurance?

NiceRx does not accept insurance, and insurance is not required to join the program.

How do I get a semaglutide prescription online?

Obtaining a semaglutide prescription online through the NiceRx Weight Loss Program is fast and easy. The semaglutide prescription is included with the program, if the licensed doctor decides the treatment is medically appropriate for you. If approved for a prescription, you will receive the medication directly from our partner licensed pharmacy in the United States.

Is NiceRx a semaglutide compounding pharmacy?

NiceRx is an online prescription drug savings company that works with a licensed compounding pharmacy and U.S. doctors to help you access compounded semaglutide for weight loss.

The licensed pharmacy is regulated by its state’s boards of pharmacies and legally permitted to make compounded versions of drugs.

Is the compounded semaglutide the salt form?

No, the compounded semaglutide is not the salt form of the drug.  NiceRx works with drug compounding pharmacies that dispense the semaglutide base form of the drug.

What are semaglutide salts and are they safe?

FDA warns that pharmacies that compound semaglutide using a salt-based form of the drug (either semaglutide sodium or semaglutide acetate) are not complying with the FDA’s federal requirements as they are using a different active ingredient than the original medication.

It is unknown at this time whether semaglutide salts are safe or effective. Compounded versions of salt-based semagltuide have not undergone rigorous clinical trials to establish their safety and effectiveness.

The FDA has warned that they are “not aware of any basis for compounding using the salt forms that would meet the FD&C requirements for types of active ingredients that can be compounded.”

It is recommended not to buy salt forms of semaglutide from an online pharmacy.

Is it safe to use compounded semaglutide for weight loss?

Yes. Drug compounding pharmacies will mix, combine or alter FDA-approved drugs with different ingredients for individual patients with different needs. For example, patients who may need a liquid form of a drug instead of the tablet form, a drug that is on the drug shortage list such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, or patients who may be allergic to a certain dye in the brand-name drug.

Is there a generic version of Ozempic/Wegovy?

There is currently no generic form of Ozempic or Wegovy available in the United States.

What is the maximum dosage of medication that I will receive?

Compounded Semaglutide is prescribed at a dose that is medically appropriate according to the prescribing clinician. The price of $249/month stays the same regardless of the dosage that you are prescribed, up to a maximum dosage of 1.75mg/week. There is an additional fee of $100/month to increase to 2.5mg/week (subject to doctor approval).

The Science

As a result, you may feel full faster and longer, so you eat less, with the ultimate end result of promoting weight loss.
