  • Submit documents

We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.

Can NiceRx help me get Apidra if I have insurance?

We may be able to help you in a variety of circumstances. This includes when your insurance company won’t pay for your Apidra medication if you don’t have insurance or you have a high copay or coinsurance responsibility.

How much is Apidra with insurance?

The cost you’ll usually pay for Apidra will depend on the terms of your healthcare plan. For further details, your healthcare provider or pharmacist will be able to calculate your copay with your current insurance.

How much does Apidra cost without insurance?

Apidra prices without insurance will vary depending on where you buy it. As a guide, a

single prefilled injectable pen with 100 ml of Apidra solution usually costs over $300. You may need to use more than one injectable pen per month. With NiceRx you’ll always pay a flat monthly fee of $49.

What is Apidra?

Apidra is a type of insulin. It’s taken to lower blood sugar levels in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. You usually inject it under your skin using a prefilled injectable pen just before or just after you eat. Apidra then helps your cells absorb more sugar from your blood. Apidra can also be taken using an insulin pump or can be injected into a vein (intravenously) by a health professional.

Diabetes is a condition that can cause your blood sugar level to be too high. When you digest food, sugar is released into your blood so it can be transported around your body. A hormone called insulin then helps the cells that need sugar to absorb it from your blood.

If you have diabetes, your body may not produce enough insulin or may become resistant to it. This means your cells absorb less sugar from your blood and your blood sugar level stays too high. Over time, high blood sugar levels can cause a range of health problems, like nerve damage, heart disease, strokes, and kidney failure.

Apidra active ingredients

The active ingredient in Apidra is called insulin glulisine. Insulin glulisine is similar to the insulin your body naturally produces, and it works in the same way. A few molecular changes have been made to it however that makes it faster-acting than natural insulin. This means it gets to work quickly after it’s injected.

Apidra side effects & Apidra drug interactions

There are some common Apidra side effects. These tend to affect around 1 in 10 people who take it. In most instances they will be mild to moderate and are caused by reactions at the site of injection, like reddening, inflammation, itching, hives, and pain on injection.

In rarer cases, Apidra side effects can be more serious. These can include allergic reactions to the medication and hypoglycemia. This is a condition where your blood sugar falls too low and you don’t have enough in your blood.

Medicines that can lower or raise your blood pressure can interact with Apidra. This means they can change the way it works and impact the dose you need to take. These can include:

  • All other medications taken to treat diabetes
  • Alcohol
  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors
  • Atypical antipsychotic medicines, like olanzapine and clozapine
  • Beta-blockers
  • Clonidine

Make sure you tell your prescribing physician about all drugs you’re taking. This includes those mentioned above and any vitamins or dietary supplements. If you’re unsure, take the packaging of all your medications and supplements with you when you see your physician.
