What is Novolog 70/30 Flexpen?

Novolog 70/30 Flexpen is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Novo Nordisk. Novolog Mix 70/30 is a mix of insulin aspart protamine, an intermediate-acting human insulin analog, and insulin aspart, a rapid-acting human insulin analog, used to improve control of blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus.

What doses of Novolog 70/30 Flexpen are available?

Novolog 70/30 Flexpen is available as an injectable suspension, in 10 mL vials, and 3 mL FlexPens.

Mix-ups and medication errors between insulin products can occur. Check your insulin labels before subcutaneous injection. Inject Novolog 70/30 in the abdomen, buttocks, thigh, or upper arm, within 15 minutes before starting a meal. Patients with type 2 diabetes, may also be given an injection after the start of the meal. Rotate injection sites within the same region. Novolog MIx 70/30 must be resuspended immediately before use. This is easier done when the insulin has reached room temperature.

Your dosage is based on your metabolic needs, blood glucose results, and your glycemic control goal. Always speak with your healthcare provider for medical advice about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.
