Am I eligible for the Nuvigil patient assistance program?

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you could receive your Nuvigil without paying the full retail price. We review each Nuvigil assistance program application individually, although the main factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Nuvigil patient assistance program?

NiceRx makes it as simple and stress-free as possible to apply for the Nuvigil patient assistance program. Fill in our enrollment application, and tell us about any medications you’re taking, including Nuvigil. We’ll also ask for details about your healthcare provider, insurance, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers who ship your medication.

If we determine that you’ll be eligible for assistance, NiceRx will handle the application process and help to enroll you in the Nuvigil patient assistance program. Once enrolled, we’ll also request your Nuvigil medication refills on your behalf for up to 1 year.

Is NiceRx a Nuvigil coupon provider?

NiceRx is a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Nuvigil patient assistance program. We are not a Nuvigil coupon, a Nuvigil discount card, or a Nuvigil copay card. We don’t offer printable Nuvigil manufacturer coupons, Nuvigil discounts, rebates, Nuvigil savings cards, trial offers, or free Nuvigil samples.

If you’re looking for coupons for Nuvigil or cheap Nuvigil, keep in mind you can likely save more with NiceRx. When obtaining your Nuvigil medication through NiceRx, your total cost for the medication will always be $49 per month.

Can NiceRx help me get Nuvigil if I have insurance?

What is Nuvigil?

Nuvigil is a prescription medication used to help people feel more awake. It’s taken to improve wakefulness in people who have excessive sleepiness caused by narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), or shift work disorder (SWD). Nuvigil helps with these sleep disorders by increasing activity in your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), making you feel more awake.

Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that disrupts your body’s ability to regulate its sleep-wake cycle. It can cause people to feel excessively sleepy in the daytime and can make them fall asleep for brief periods.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a disorder where soft tissue inside your throat blocks or partially blocks your airway as you sleep. It can reduce or stop your breathing, waking you up. This can happen multiple times per night, keeping you awake and limiting how much sleep you get.

Shift work disorder is caused when people have to work during the hours they’d normally be asleep (i.e. at night). It can lead to difficulties in sleeping and insomnia, resulting in excessive sleepiness.

Nuvigil active ingredients

The active ingredient in Nuvigil is called armodafinil. Armodafinil is a central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) stimulant, although the exact mechanism of action isn’t understood in detail. The medication may work by increasing levels of dopamine in your brain. Dopamine is a chemical that helps the neurons in your brain to communicate with each other.

Nuvigil side effects & Nuvigil drug interactions

As with all medications, Nuvigil can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience side effects or have the same ones. The most common Nuvigil side effects include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and insomnia. Less common side effects include fatigue, anxiety, depression, heart palpitations, decreased appetite, and tremors.

This isn’t a full list of side effects. For more details see the patient leaflet that comes with the medication. Speak to your physician if you have any concerns about Nuvigil side effects.

Nuvigil can interact with other medications. This can alter the way Nuvigil and the other medications work, and it can increase the chances of you experiencing certain side effects.

Tell your prescribing physician about all drugs you’re taking, including vitamins and dietary supplements. In particular, tell them if you’re taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors, warfarin, and medications based on CYP3A4/5 and CYP2C19 enzymes, like steroidal contraceptives, cyclosporine, midazolam, phenytoin, and diazepam.

Nuvigil may interact with hormonal birth control methods like birth control pills, patches, and implants. You should use additional contraceptive methods if you take Nuvigil, like condoms or a diaphragm with spermicide.

Nuvigil warnings & precautions

Don’t take Nuvigil if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient armodafinil, or a similar compound called modafinil
  • Are allergic to any of the other ingredients found in Nuvigil (listed in the leaflet which comes with the medication)
  • Are under 18 years of age

Talk to your physician before taking Nuvigil if you:

  • Have liver or kidney problems
  • Have or have had heart disease
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Have a history of psychosis, mania, or depression
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are over 65 years of age

*Qualifying persons may obtain medications directly from patient assistance programs without any out-of-pocket cost (or for less than $49 per medication). However, our monthly flat rate of just $49 per medication spares you the hassle of tracking down the different programs and filling out all the required paperwork for each program.

Enrollees enjoy a full-service solution, as NiceRx assists them and their physicians with the entire process. We prepare all required documents for the physician to sign, help enrollees manage all prescription refills, monitor eligibility criteria, and maintain enrollment.

**If you do not receive medications because you were determined to be ineligible for the prescription assistance by the applicable pharmaceutical companies and you have a letter of denial, we will refund any fees you paid toward medications for which you did not qualify to receive prescription assistance (“Refund”).

To receive a refund, you must send the letter of denial to us by fax to 888-517-7444, or by e-mail to [email protected] within 30 days of your receipt of such letter. The Refund is your sole and exclusive remedy for any fees you may wish to dispute.
