Am I eligible for the Levemir patient assistance program?

To be eligible for the Levemir patient assistance program, you will need to meet specific eligibility criteria. At NiceRx we review each Levemir enrollment application individually. However, the main factors likely to be considered will include:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Levemir patient assistance program?

Applying for the Levemir patient assistance program through NiceRx is simple. Begin by completing the enrollment application on our website. You’ll need to provide details about any medications you’re taking, including Levemir. We’ll also ask for details about your healthcare provider, your insurance plan, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers that supply your medication, so it must be up-to-date and accurate.

Once NiceRx determines if you may be eligible for Levemir assistance, we’ll handle the full enrollment process on your behalf. When enrolled in the Levemir patient assistance program, we’ll also request your Levemir medication refills for up to 12 months.

Is NiceRx a Levemir coupons provider?

NiceRx is not a Levemir coupon, a Levemir discount card, or a Levemir copay card provider. We don’t offer printable Levemir manufacturer coupons, Levemir discounts, rebates, Levemir savings cards, trial offers, or free Levemir samples. We are a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Levemir patient assistance program.

If you’re looking for coupons for Levemir or cheap Levemir, you will likely save more with NiceRx. Remember, your total monthly cost will always be $49 each month.

Can NiceRx help me get Levemir if I have insurance?

NiceRx may be able to help you if:

  • You have a high copay or coinsurance responsibility for Levemir

How much is Levemir with insurance?

Your individual healthcare plan will determine the cost of Levemir with insurance. To find out what you will need to pay, contact your pharmacist or insurance provider. They will be able to calculate your copay with your current insurance.

How much does Levemir cost without insurance?

Levemir prices without insurance will vary by retailer. As a guide, a 100 ml vial of Levemir will cost around $490.

What is Levemir?

Levemir is a prescription medication used to lower high blood sugar levels in adults and children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It’s a type of insulin that works in the same way as the insulin your body produces. A key difference however is the fact it’s long-lasting. Levemir is taken by injecting it under your skin (subcutaneous injection), using either a syringe of a pre-filled FlexTouch self-injecting pen. You typically inject Levemir once every 24 hours at the same time each day.

Levemir active ingredients

The active ingredient in Levemir is called insulin detemir. It’s a type of synthetic (man-made) insulin that works in the same way as the insulin your body makes naturally. The only key difference is that insulin detemir has been designed to be longer acting than natural insulin, so it works over a longer time period.

When you inject Levemir under your skin, the insulin detemir is released into your bloodstream. It travels around your body in your blood and helps your cells absorb sugar. It can be active for up to 24 hours, so it can cover your insulin needs over the course of a full day.

Levemir side effects & Levemir drug interactions

The most common side effects caused by Levemir include:

  • Reactions at the site of injection, like itching, rashes, skin thickening, or pits forming in your skin (lipodystrophy)
  • Weight gain
  • Allergic reactions that can cause swelling of your face, tongue, or throat
  • Swelling of your hands and feet

In rare instances, Levemir can cause more serious side effects, including:

  • Severe allergic reactions to the medication that can cause anaphylaxis
  • Your blood sugar falling too low to dangerous levels (hypoglycemia)

Levemir can interact with other diabetes medications and any medications that contain alcohol. This can change how Levemir and the other medications work and can make some side effects more likely.

Levemir warnings & precautions

Don’t drink alcohol or use any medicines that contain alcohol whilst taking Levemir.

Don’t take Levemir if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient insulin detemir
  • Are allergic to any of the other ingredients in Levemir
  • Have diabetic ketoacidosis – a condition where high blood sugar causes high levels of ketones to build up in your body

Occasionally Levemir can cause side effects, including dizziness and drowsiness, that can interfere with your ability to drive, use machinery, or perform other dangerous tasks. It’s important to only do so once you’re certain that it doesn’t impact you in this way.

Talk to your doctor before taking Levemir if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Levemir
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

*Qualifying persons may obtain medications directly from patient assistance programs without any out-of-pocket cost (or for less than $49 per medication). To receive a refund, you must send the letter of denial to us by fax to 888-517-7444, or by e-mail to [email protected] within 30 days of your receipt of such letter. The Refund is your sole and exclusive remedy for any fees you may wish to dispute.
